The Immigration Museum
Introduction
The Immigration Museum of the State of Sao Paulo inherits from the Memorial of Immigrant all the history of preservation of the memory of people who arrived in Brazil through the Immigrant Inn.
Brazilian Migratory Laws Before the Year 1892
In the 19th and 20th centuries Italian immigrants and from other countries came to Brazil with the dream of “making America”. They have landed in Brazil wishing to remake their lives working in coffee plantations and in the industry of Sao Paulo. They have brought significant contributions to the history and cultural backgrounds of the country. Opened in 1887, the Immigrant Inn became the main site for the newly arrived foreigners to stay. In the site of the Museum we can find the information of two Menesini families from Pescia who arrived in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Italiano Menesini (42) arrived in 1891 with Marianna (28) and Amelia (Brunetta) (8) (di Pietro, 2nd marriage)
Amelia Menesini (26) arrived in 1892 with 3 very young girls, Cesilda (6), Iola (4) and Gina (2) (Amelia wife of Pietro, di Antonio, di Pietro 1st marriage)
Enrico Menesini (1873) who was born in Pescia had his name not found in the Museum registration list (di Parigino, di Antonio, di Pietro 1st marriage)
Enrico, Cesilda, Iola, and Gina, are the grandchildren of Antonio, son of Pietro 1st marriage, who immigrated to Brazil too.
